Open year round from sunrise to sunset, you’ll find this destination to be a hot spot for anyone who loves off-roading. This off-road area stretches 8,000 acres with over 150 miles worth of trails. Drive through cragged, summit-reaching multi-use trails designed for ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes, trucks, Jeeps and buggies. Created originally from strip mining roads, Black Mountain offers many terrain styles for all levels of difficulty. Trails both fun and challenging will make for an exciting day as you ride through the scenic views of the Appalachian Mountains.

If you’re riding with youngsters who are just learning the sport, the Youth Turkey Trot Trail is a great opportunity to practice basic riding techniques. A fenced-off area filled with obstacles, this learning trail is not only fun but a safe way to develop future riding skills. Those ready to hit the ground running will feel their adrenaline rush along the Challenge Area trails. Marked by red rings, these routes offer a level of difficulty only for those experienced. Prepare for steep climbs and descents as you make your way through this woodsy park. You can even trek through a mud puddle to get extra dirty. Kick up dust on an old uncompromising mining route in Mine Made Paradise Park. No permit is needed to begin your wild ride. With over 43,000 acres of reclaimed coal lands and mudded-over pathways, you’ll have fun no matter what type of rider you are. Got a dirt bike? Enjoy 32 miles of dirt trails specifically for dirt bikes. If you’re more privy to ATVs or UTVs, you’ll have over 100 miles of trails to explore. Race through the woods as you surround yourself with beautiful mountain views. Experience plenty of water crossings as you make your way through the looped trails. With unique, unrivaled adventure, these trails will have you coming back for more.

The Majestic Forest for Off-Highway Vehicles

If you’re looking for stunning forest scenery, and maybe even a few glimpses of wildlife, check out Daniel Boone National Forest for off-road vehicle trails. The majestic forest features over 150 miles of deep-wooded, multi-use trails that spread out across four different OHV riding districts. The four districts include: Cumberland District, London Ranger District, Redbird District, and Stearns District. With each district be sure to have a permit or pass to enjoy the fun. Choose from multiple trails across these four areas to begin your off-roading adventure. Try Turkey Foot OHV Trail in the London Ranger District for a wooded terrain route, great for intermediate riders. For a more thrilling trail, hit the White Sulphur OHV Trail located in the Cumberland District. Stretching 17 miles with hardened gravel, this moderate trail makes well for more experienced drivers.
